This will be difficult to talk about without going off on a political rant, it's just my nature. Indulgence is a documentary about Anton Krupicka an incredible ultra runner, who is know for his minimalist lifestyle as well as his high mileage training. There is no doubt that Krupicka is at the top of the endurance field. His simple lifestyle as well as his running ability has been a topic in many of the running rags over the past few years.
A movie solely about this kid is a stretch to say the least. He goes to school and he runs. That's it! He does pontificate about society and it's ills, as well as what he is doing to make a difference. He of course goes on about the marketing of running and how capitalism is bad for the sport, yet he is sponsored by La Sportiva. Of course he says that is different because that is just not who he is. ??? Hypocrisy and ignorance seems to run amuck with Krupicka. He does a little speech about the automobile and how "we" us it SO inefficiently. Then goes on to say that is is really great to use when he has ran all day and just doesn't have the energy to go to the store. Of course he has to take a swipe at Dean Karnazes and how there are so many other runners that are better than him that deserve the publicity. This by someone in a movie solely about himself, who by the way does nothing but run at least Dean has a foundation for kids, he also has been in dozens of magazines. Which in my opinion is well deserved, he is a phenomenal ultra runner.
The move was mildly entertaining and the landscapes were beautiful. It is probably worth $10 versus the $20 I paid for it. If you are a huge fan of Krupicka then it is a must have. His perspective and opinions are typical of a college student who hasn't been in the real world. From a running perspective, he is a work of art to watch.
NEVER STOP RUNNING!!
