We have finished our 5 week course!! It was a wonderful learning experience for all involved. Going into this class, having a small congregation, we were hopeful to have 3-5 people. We started with 6 or 7 and finished with 15!! Paula and I learned so much while researching the topic of the correlation of Christianity and overall health and wellness. To me the answer became clear as I thought about what I call Plan A and Plan B. You see Plan A was the Garden Of Eden or "Paradise", this was the wonderful place God placed Adam and Eve. They were to go forth and multiply in this beautiful place and live off the fruit, veggie and nuts God had provided for them. Genesis 1:29! Then of course we sinned and screwed everything up. Not only did we screw it up we screwed the pooch so bad that there was only one man that God wanted to save, Noah. So God destroyed the earth leaving Noah and family to repopulate the earth. This began Plan B, nutritionally, and God gave us meat to eat as well as all the fruits, veggies and nuts. Genesis 9:3.
So if you want to perfect your nutrition, wouldn't you logically go with Plan A? Why would you not choose "Paradise"?! Now I do understand that this is a difficult, yet not impossible, choice to make. With all of the wonderful tasting food substances out there, they can be hard to give up. I too still have a hard time, the Devil tempts me as well. Devil?! Yes the Devil!! It only make sense that the Devil would be leading the charge of substances that clog our arteries, cause cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, and every other disease know to man. Now when I say so-called "food substances" I mean anything that isn't real organic food from the earth. Yes there is organic meat out there and if you eat meat it needs to be organic. However, animal protein has been proven time and again to cause the same diseases as the "food substances" so I include them as "food substances" as I interpret the scripture we weren't meant to eat it. Even if you go by the book of Leviticus and prepare the meat as God commanded, I feel all of this preparation is to make it more difficult so you will turn to Plan A. Besides I know NO one who even comes close to eating as stated in Leviticus. Not only does all of these so-called foods cause disease they also cause a myriad of other problems. Depression, anxiety, hair loss, dry skin, pale skin, unexplained aches and pains, diarrhea, constipation.......the list is infinite. Isn't logical that the Devil would want you weak and sickly?
The problem with a lot of these aliments is that they are readily accepted by society. It is just what happens and the only thing to do is get a prescription to take care of it. WRONG!!! Why would you put chemicals in your body which have a list of side affects to make you "well". Don't think just because you are getting older, have supposed bad genetics, or everyone is getting sick right now that you have to live with any aliment. You don't!! Through great nutrition and prayer you can make your body strong, the way God intended. Just because society accepts a sickly population doesn't mean you have to. The key to your health is taking personal responsibility for it. I know a lot of you have heard me say it but I will say it again. 99% of the things that happen to us are self inflicted. Bad or good we are a product of our actions. This is true, emotionally, spiritually and physically. Through prayer God will give you the strength to make the right choices in everything in life. Is it a sin to eat poorly? I think that is something you need to answer yourself. I will give you something to think about. Do you think it's ok to smoke, drink or do other drugs? If you answered no, then why is it ok to eat foods that are laced with chemicals. Do you judge or condemn someone for lying, stealing, adultery...... while you eat a 3000 calorie meal? Gluttony is a sin as well. No I'm not judging, that is between you and God. My question is why is one OK and the other not. There are no big or little sins, you either sin or not. Society has proclaimed what is acceptable. Christians are not judged by society we are judged by God. Are our bodies not Temples? 1 Corinthians 3:16 & 17. Then treat them as such!
From what I can figure out we should try and live in Paradise as God wanted in the first place. That is my interpretation, you may come up with something else. I say GO with Plan A! It isn't easy but over time it will become a way of life. Also a great time for prayer and reflection as we ask that eternal question. Is this a want or a need? :)
GOD BLESS

Koach Karl,
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on this. I started an all-natural, organic foods diet 56 years ago, and started running two years after that. The diet has been a big part of the reason I'm now in my 54th consecutive year of running, and feeling as good now as I did at age 15. I've been lucky with my genes, perhaps (no problems with knees or back), but the nutrition has been key. I'm one of only two runners to have finished in the top three places overall in both the New York Marathon (1970) and JFK 50-mile (1977)--now recognized as the largest marathon and ultra respectively, in the U.S. Last year, at age 69, I finished 3rd of 71 men in the 60-69 division at JFK, and this month's Ultrarunner magazine ranked that among the top 15 age-group performances in North America. Organic kale, organic tofu, organic fruit--that's paradise!
